Design of Idents

Idents are little advertisemetns for a channel. they are meant to give you an idea of the personality of channel and who the audience is for the channel. Idents might also give you an idea of what kind of programming is used. For example, there is a BBS ident with football that plays before sport and sport programs. Idents help to brand the channel and give the channel a clear identity.There are certain design features of idents that help with this.











Density of Information: It was relatively high, they physically told us what was happening by someone talking on the ident and explaining what was going to come on. and coming on. But they didn't write it down on the ident so that we can see it.
Composition: There was lots of movement on the ident and weird colours and shapes which could imply that the channel is quite quirky and different. All these bright colours make the ident look fun so it would probably be aimed at a younger audience.
Space and Time: The ident looks like it’s aimed at younger people as the ident comes across as quirky. It comes across as quirky because all the bright colours, the fast movement, and the unusual shapes.
Tempo: The tempo of the ident was fast and the music was also fast and loud which could imply that the ident is fun. With fast music it implies that this channel is fun and is aimed at people who also want to have fun too.
Interaction with viewers: The ident is trying to have a conversation with the viewer’s trying to make them feel comfortable. This would make the viewers know what is going on on that channel and most likely make them want to watch it as they know what is coming on.
Information or Entertainment: Information because in the ident they’re giving information to the viewers. Also, Entertainment as there is upbeat music which will keep the audience is happy and make them think its a fun channel.






 





 



Density of Information: It was relatively high, someone spoke to us and told us what was happening, the density of information would of been higher if they wrote on the ident what was happening and what coming on and not just telling us.
Composition: There was upbeat music which probably implies that the channel is exciting, and as there are young people on the ident, which probably means the ident is aimed at young people.
Space and Time: I think the ident is aimed at younger people because you can only see young people in the ident. Also, the people in the ident are all wearing nice clothes and it is usually younger people who are up to date with the latest fashion.
Tempo: The music was upbeat to imply it can be exciting, but the camera movement was slow which could mean it could be slow and calm too. So overall, i think the ident shows that it can be fun, but also serious.
Interaction with viewers: Having a conversation with the viewer’s to try and make them feel comfortable. They done this so that the viewers would come back and watch the channel again.
Information or Entertainment: Information because the ident are telling us what is coming on. But also entertainment as there is upbeat music which implies that the channel can have a good time.




  











Density of Information: There wasn't that much information until the end, at the end they were telling you what day and time the show will be on so that the audience are aware of it.
Composition: There was music and music and it sounded like fun music, also there was lots of laughing which could also imply that it it's a funny channel. But the ident looks like it's set I'm the 1980-1990 which could imply it's also for some of the older people.
Space and Time: I think it's aimed at the older generation who want to have fun. I think that as the channels are old but they are also funny.
Tempo: The music was upbeat which probably means that the channel is funny. Lots of people were laughing in the ident so that could mean its funny too. The overall affect they are trying to give is that it is a funny channel and they want the viewers to enjoy it.
Interaction with viewers: There wasn't much interaction with the viewers until the end. They made the viewers know what was coming on and what time though so that they are aware.
Information or Entertainment: I'd say entertainment as there was upbeat music and lots of laughing. But also a bit of entertainment as their was a bit of speaking towards the ending of the ident.
