OW MUSIC - Radio idea's
For my buzz logo used exactly this design as I thought that it looked sharp with the box. I liked the box so I ended up using the box for all 3 of my deisgns.
I also used the lines on the outside of the text for all of my designs. Firstly, I only wanted to show something buzzing, but I think it added to the effect of the sharpness.

Succesful and Unsuccesful Idents
Successful and Unsuccessful
The purpose of an ident Is to identify the channel the viewers are watching, this can be done in a variety of styles. Some of which could be animations, movie clips etc. They should create an image for that channel that is easily recognised and make the channel differ from other, similar channel. Some things that must be taken into consideration when making an ident is the Density of Information, Composition, Space and Time, Tempo, Interaction with viewers and Information or Entertainment.

NEW:
The ident is very well balanced as it has entertainment and information for the viewers. There was upbeat music which could imply that the channel is fun and entertaining. Also, they used a wide range of colours to catch the audiences eye. This would be a successful ident because all of this would catch the audiences attention and make them think the channel is fun and entertaining. The information in this ident was also relatively high. Overall this ident is more successful because it communicates the fact that the channel is a comedy channel more clearly than the older ident.
OLD:
This ident was boring and wouldn't catch the audiences eye. There was no information in this ident which left the viewers unaware about what was going to come on. It only showed someone washing up dishes which wouldn't catch the audiences eye. It had no upbeat music and the colours were also dull. Also, it was very clear who the ident always aimed at (young people) because the music was so upbeat. The title that comes up at the end is the only clue that the channel is a comedy channel.
BBC
NEW:
The new ident didn't have the most colours, but they had a bright red that would catch the audiences eye. Also, the tempo was very fast which would mean that the channels will be entertaining. I think this ident was successful because they used football for it. Football is our national sport and that's why I think it is most likely to catch the audiences eye. There wasn't much information on the ident but they did inform what would be on and what time it would be on at the end of the ident. It was also clear who the ident was aimed at. Sporty people, and people who want to be entertained. The channel has still used the circle idea which coud represent the world.

The old indent never really had a buzz to it. There was no music so that wouldn't give the viewers a good first impression of an entertaining channel. Also there was a really good vibe of colours that would catch the audiences eye. The tempo of the ident was really slow as it was just a water drop sit e BBC Logo inside the drop. That comes across as a bit boring and probably wouldn't catch the audiences eye. A good thing indents are suppose to do is show information and entertainment. This ident never showed any entertainment and only a little but of information towards the end. The 1 that shows at th end is in a globe which could show that the BBC has information from all over the world.

NEW:
The new ident shows people having fun, this will probably make the ident seem fun to the audience and get them attracted to watch more. It seems like a good vibe because the kids are smiling. Also, there is a lot of movement to imply that the ident will be exciting. It's like everyday life which would mean that the channels aren't animation, and about everyday life. The ident clearly communicates that ITV is for families and everyone, like a broadly aim audience.

The old ident doesn't really have a meaning to it. There is a women sitting there which could maybe imply the channel is for women, but that is it. It doesn't tell you what genre the channel will be. Also, there is no music which shows that the channel will probably be boring. No fast movement which would probably imply it is also boring.It is more difficult to establish who the target audience is and what kind of prgramming ITV has from ths ident.

The new ident is good because of its originality. No other channel will have a ident like that, a great view of Dubai. That will give off a good first impression of Channel 4. Also, there is upbeat music which would probably tell the viewers that the channel will be fun, entertaining, and a joy to watch. They also give good information so that the viewers are aware of whats coming on, that is crucial for an ident. There are lots of different idents fro Channel 4 that use the same idea so they are trying to brand themselves like this.
